Cua Driver Serves Its Desktop Skill Over MCP

Context

Cua says agents can now load Cua Driver's skills through Skills over , starting with Cua Driver v0.28.0. Cua Driver is the company's tool for letting an inspect and operate native desktop apps and browsers on macOS, Windows and Linux, and agents connect to it through a command line, typed SDKs or MCP, the Model Context Protocol that connects agents to outside tools. What changes is what that connection carries. In Cua's announcement, a compatible agent gets "desktop tools and guidance through one stdio connection", so the guidance for using the driver arrives over the same connection as its tools.

Skills over MCP is a protocol extension, numbered SEP-2640, in which a server publishes a folder of skills and a client lists, reads and verifies them. The official MCP TypeScript SDK added it in its 2.4.0 release, which our coverage of that release describes, and it marked the step that attaches skills to a server as experimental.

The practical gain depends on whether a given agent's MCP client implements the extension, and Cua's repository still points users of Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw and other agents to per-agent integration guides.
